The Best Budget Laptop
Budget laptops are a tough market for manufacturers. They have to produce high quality systems for as little as possible and that often involves trade-offs in hardware or software features. Of course, each person may have a different idea of what they need in a budget laptop. Maybe it’s for graphics, performance, portability and price. Here are my picks for the cheapest laptops available for a variety of different uses and prices of all priced under $ 650.
Best Deal – Dell Inspiron 1564 15.6-inch
If you want the latest Intel platform, but do not want to spend much, the Dell Inspiron 1564 has the best deals with prices below $ 600. It uses the new Intel Core Dual Core i3-330M for some good results. To get the prices down, makes it a little sacrifice. It comes with only 3 GB of DDR3 memory instead of 4 GB, 250 GB hard drive instead of 320 GB and only 802.11b / g 802.11b/g/n instead. Unlike many other Dell systems, this basic configuration lacks many customization options as well. If you want to spend even less, the Compaq Presario CQ61-420us can be found for just over $ 500, but uses an AMD platform instead of Intel and has a full battery life low.
Best Overall – 15.6-inch Gateway NV5933u
Blu-ray was a feature that was reserved for laptops, once high-end. Gateway has managed to introduce a Blu-ray combo drive in your laptop NV5933u. In addition, the $ 650 laptop comes equipped with a new i3-330M Core processor with 4GB of DDR3 memory for some outstanding performance. It also comes standard with a 15.6-inch screen and 320GB hard drive. Battery life does suffer a bit compared to other budget notebooks, but for many it does not matter much. If you do not need or want a Blu-ray drive, the Acer Aspire AS5740-5513 offers nearly the same system but with a DVD burner and a slightly lower price.
Most laptops – MSI-038US 15.6-inch A6200
Budget laptops are usually not the most portable on the market. If you want a low-cost laptop with a large screen and DVD burner, your options are rather limited. The A6200-038US MSI is one of the thinnest of today’s notebook computers that can be found for under $ 650. It uses the latest Intel dual-core CPU with 4GB i3-330M of memory for a solid overall performance. Other features include a hard disk drive 320 GB, dual layer burner DVD, 802.11b/g/n wireless and 15.6-inch screen. All this comes in a laptop just 1.2 inches thick and 5.5 pounds. Of course, not new ultra CULV as EC1815u Gateway offers a very compact system with long battery life, less a DVD drive and the performance of some.
Best 3D graphics – ASUS K50ID-X1 15.6-inch
One of the biggest problem areas for laptops budget 3D graphics. Low costs allow companies not normally use anything beyond integrated solutions. ASUS is one of the few that makes a laptop that offers graphics of this kind in the K50ID-X1. Equipped with a NVIDIA GeForce 320M GT with 1GB of memory allowing you to manage PC games at lower resolutions. The drawback is that the system uses an earlier version and much less powerful Intel Pentium Dual Core T4400 processor. Other features are fairly typical, including 15.6-inch display, 4GB of DDR3 memory, 320GB hard drive and dual layer burner. price right around $ 650.Best 3D – ASUS K50ID-X1 15.6-inch
